This qualification is for persons interested in a career in disability or existing workers in the sector, with skills and knowledge to successfully co-ordinate and manage services in the disability sector, or to work in specialised disability support roles. You may work autonomously and/or have responsibility for the supervision and/or management of other staff, volunteers, students, programs or services.
The community services and health industries is the fastest growing workforce sector, experiencing the greatest need for employees, with 24% of workforce growth in 2012, increasing at a rate of 3% each year or 170,000 jobs (Industry Skills Council, 2008). There is a recognised skills shortage for disability workers. With the ongoing demands of disability organisations, this shortage will continue in years to come.
